Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions are computerised and full details of the procedure will be given to patients as needed. Please allow two working days before collection.

We regret that we cannot accept telephone requests for repeat prescriptions. However, they may be requested via the emis gateway below provided you have completed an online registration form at the surgery. In all other cases we will need exact details of your prescription requirements and you may be asked to see the doctor.

We are using an electronic prescription service which means that prescriptions can automatically go to a pharmacy of your choice without your having to collect from the surgery. We will still require two working days for this service. To register for this service please speak to your local pharmacy and they will arrange it for you.

The recommendation from NHS Digital as from 2020 is that all prescriptions where possible are provided electronically, please ask your Pharmacist

Review Dates

Review dates must be strictly adhered to. It could be unsafe for the patient to continue with repeat prescribing without it being reviewed regularly by the doctor.

Patients aged 65+ and who are on four or more medications will be reviewed on a six-monthly basis.

It is a condition of having a repeat prescription that the patient attends a stipulated review date.

Hoarding medicines is unsafe and results in considerable wastage and is therefore expensive to the NHS.
